NeedChecklist is a checklist generator that turns messy plans into structured lists. You can start from templates on any plan, and you can type your own prompts on Pro+ AI to have AI generate a detailed checklist for you. Pro and Pro+ AI plans also let you save, organize into folders, share, and export your checklists.

No. You can generate a checklist from templates without logging in. Creating a free account lets you stay signed in and test NeedChecklist more comfortably. When you’re ready to keep a library of checklists, Pro and Pro+ AI let you save them, organize them into folders on the My Checklists page, share by link, and export to PDF.

Anything with moving pieces: travel, sports seasons, classroom prep, moving, packing, launches, events, recurring chores, onboarding tasks, and more. On Pro and Pro+ AI, you can keep each of those areas in its own folder (for example: Home, Work, Kids, Travel, Events) so nothing gets buried.

Yes. On all plans you can edit tasks, reorder them, and delete anything that doesn’t fit. On Pro and Pro+ AI you can then save those changes and keep that customized version in whatever folder makes sense for you. Pro+ AI also lets you ask AI to expand or simplify sections before you save.

Folders, saving, & organization

Pro and Pro+ AI plans are built for people who want to keep an organized library of checklists, not just one-off lists.

On Pro and Pro+ AI, folders help you keep a growing checklist library organized. On the My Checklists page you’ll see:
  • Folder filters so you can quickly view only one area (like “Travel” or “Work”)
  • A folder dropdown on each checklist card so you can move it into a folder
  • A “By folder” view where you can drag and drop checklists between folder buckets
  • A Folder Manager where you can rename folders or clear all checklists out of a folder
Free users can still have checklists but do not see folder management options like the Folder Manager.

Yes, on Pro and Pro+ AI plans you’ll see a Folder field on the Edit Checklist page. You can type a folder name (for example: “Wedding”, “Home projects”, “Clients”) and that checklist will show up in that folder on the My Checklists page. You can change the folder name at any time, and your checklists will move along with it.

On the Free plan, the folder field is read-only and is mainly there so you can see what folder something belonged to if you previously had a paid plan.

No. Folder creation and management are Pro and Pro+ AI features. Free is great for trying out checklists and templates. When you start thinking “I’d like to keep these organized by area of life,” that’s usually a good sign you’re ready for Pro.

If you move back to the Free plan, your account and existing checklists remain, but folder management tools are limited or disabled. In many cases you’ll still see the folder names so you know where things used to live, but you won’t be able to create new folders, drag and drop, or use the Folder Manager until you reactivate Pro or Pro+ AI.

Folders shine when you use NeedChecklist for more than one part of life. For example:
  • Keep all your travel lists together (road trips, flights, tournaments)
  • Group home and maintenance checklists (seasonal chores, repairs, deep cleaning)
  • Separate work or client templates from personal ones
  • Give kids, teams, or projects their own folders
Instead of scrolling through one long mixed list, folders make it obvious where things belong, so it’s faster to find and reuse what you need.

Plans, Pro, Pro+ AI & billing

Start free. Upgrade only if the Pro or Pro+ AI features actually save you time or stress.

Free is for trying NeedChecklist and creating occasional one-off lists and template-based checklists. You can see how it feels without committing.

Pro (paid) is for people who want an organized library:
  • Save unlimited checklists to your account
  • Use folders on the My Checklists page to keep areas of life separate
  • Share checklists via private link
  • Export to PDF for printing and record-keeping
Pro+ AI includes everything in Pro plus AI features:
  • AI-generated checklists from a simple description
  • Ask AI to expand, regroup, or simplify your lists
  • Higher AI usage limits for busy seasons or big projects

Payments are handled securely by Stripe. You pay month-to-month for Pro or Pro+ AI. You can cancel any time — when you cancel, you keep access to Pro or Pro+ AI features until the end of your current billing period, and then your account shifts back to Free.

Yes. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. There are no long-term contracts. If you decide to come back to Pro or Pro+ AI later, you can reactivate from the pricing page or your account.

For most monthly plans, we don’t typically offer refunds once a billing period has started, but if something goes wrong with billing or the product, you can always contact support and we’ll review it with you.

Data, privacy, & accounts

Your checklists are yours. Our job is to keep them available and secure.

Your account and checklist data are stored in a secure database. Only the app and support tools (for troubleshooting) interact with that data. We don’t sell, rent, or share your checklists with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

By default, only you (when signed in) can see your saved checklists. If you turn on sharing for a checklist on a paid plan, anyone with the link you share will be able to view that specific checklist. You control which checklists are shareable.

If you downgrade from Pro or Pro+ AI, you keep access to your account and existing checklists, but new Pro features (like fresh exports, new saved lists, or folder management) and all Pro+ AI features (AI generation and refinement) may be limited or disabled going forward.
